Information
After a sustained period where repairer capacity was challenged by first Covid-19 and then the macro-economic fall out of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, things have now bounced back with repair volumes down, labour gaps filled and disrupted supply chains no longer as much of an impediment to insurer service.
With this in mind this Claims Club session aims to review the road ahead for the motor repair sector, looking at what challenges are on the horizon, especially when it come to technological readiness and use of data to create a future-proofed strategy.
Among the areas the panelists will seek to address during the 40 minute discussion are:
- Issues around increasing complexity due to ADAS, and connected car tech.
- The impact of wider EV Adoption with greater demand potentially sparked by a growth in more competitively-priced vehicles.
- Pressure to meet stricter manufacturer mandates and approval standards.
- Parts Sourcing, especially in terms of rising costs, longer lead times, and supplier volatility, not least for EVs and international channels.
- Addressing the mid-to-longer term repair talent shortage, including the need for new training programs to fill the skilled technician gap, particularly with EV & manufacturer approvals in mind.
- The wider use of data, with a focus on repairers providing insurers with more granular information on cost and turnaround.
- Sustainable practices including circular parts sourcing to improve lead times and promote ESG, alongside waste management and investment in EV battery disposal.
- How to strike the perfect balance between volume and capability so consumers get the best service;
- Opportunities for greater collaboration with manufacturers, suppliers, and insurers on parts, methodology and sustainability.
